Queen of the Jungle

Queen of the Jungle © 1974 Bob Mullany

She walks through the alleys with a panther's grace
Her streetwise eyes put all the guys right in their place
With a touch, a little smile, she can knock you dead
Then she'll run away and leave you with the demons screaming in your head
She feeds upon your fantasies, and she must be fed
So forget all your vanity, and hang on to your sanity,
'Cause for her it's just a game to play, and she holds all the aces...

Queen of the Jungle, don't it hurt to be alone ?
Too much fire in your veins has turned your heart to stone
But with me you blew your cover, and couldn't hide the pain
The past just can't be changed, there's no need to explain

As you slipped into the shadows, I thought I saw a glow
I only wish that you would let it in and make it grow
The circus is in town, and you know it's here to stay
And they're so glad to be with you, you'll never have to pay
It's time to pass your crown on, it will only drag you down
All that matters has been shattered, and lies scattered on the ground
You must make do with what is left, or be the Queen of Clowns

Queen of the Jungle, don't it hurt to be alone ?
Too much fire in your veins has turned your heart to stone
But with me you blew your cover, and couldn't hide th pain
The past just can't be changed, there's no need to explain

I don't have to be your lover, I just want you to discover
How to open up your heart and learn to love someone again
I don't have to be your lover, I just want you to discover
How to open up your heart and learn to love someone again
I don't have to be your lover, I just want you to discover
How to open up your heart and learn to love someone again...
