If Wanting Was Water

Lucky Eddie, he spends his days out at the track
He gives them his money
and sometimes they give him some back
He has a good time, sits in the sunshine,
Gets to see all his friends
He generally loses but when he gets lucky he wins

If wanting was water, and wishes were breezes,
and dreams were sunny blue skies
He'd be out on the ocean, perpetual motion
Sweet summer sun in his eyes

Sister Maria, she goes to confession each day
She doesn't sin much so I guess she don't have much to say
She works in the kitchen and helps with the cleaning
and when she's not busy, she'll pray
Content in the knowledge she'll get to heaven some day

If wanting was water, and wishes were breezes,
and dreams were sunny blue skies
She'd be out on the ocean, perpetual motion
Sweet summer sun in her eyes

Injun Benjamin works on the corporate farm
Some people claim he's a crazy mulatto
But he never did me no harm
When they light the fires to dry the tobacco
He sleeps on a cot in the barn
With his transister music,
a bottle of rum,
and machete as long as your arm

If wanting was water, and wishes were breezes,
and dreams were sunny blue skies
He'd be out on the ocean, perpetual motion
Sweet summer sun in his eyes

If wanting was water, and wishes were breezes,
and dreams were sunny blue skies
We'd be out on the ocean, perpetual motion
Sweet summer sun in our eyes
