Mercy

Mercy

As I look out our window
Clouds obscure the setting sun
Then they usher in the darkness
As another day is done
Muffled voices from the TV
As I lay down in our bed
Is the only sound I hear
Except the voice inside my head (it says)

Oh, mercy, mercy, mercy where did our love go wrong
A love that once seemed endless, a love that seemed so strong
I know I’m far from sinless, but our love is nearly gone
Do you think that we should end this or should we carry on ?

We go to work each morning
And we come home every night
We never really talk much
So we rarely ever fight
Yes, we keep it from the children
Because it would hurt them so
Though they’ve really never seen us touch
Since many years ago

Oh, mercy, mercy, mercy where did our love go wrong
A love that once seemed endless, a love that seemed so strong
I know I’m far from sinless, but our love is nearly gone
Do you think that we should end this or should we carry on ?

I’m not dreaming ‘bout the future
I’m remembering the past
“Cause as I look around
I see how little of love lasts
Though it isn’t always darkness
And it isn’t always cold
It seems happy ever after's
Just a fairy tale we’re told.

Oh, mercy, mercy, mercy where did our love go wrong
A love that once seemed endless, a love that seemed so strong
I know I’m far from sinless, but our love is nearly gone
Do you think that we should end this or should we carry on ?
Do you think that we should end this or should we carry on ?
