Like a Dove

Like a Dove
Bob Mullany © 1973

You can see I am a young man – that’s no time to be alone
And though I may appear to be I have a love to call my own
She’s gentle as the shadow of a cloud upon the meadow
Though sometimes it’s a lonely love
It’s the only love I know

In a way, she’s like a rainbow
But softer like a sunset
With the shyness of a woodland doe
She’s fragile as the violet

But a rainbow’s only water
And a sunset’s only sand
A doe would be so sad to leave the woodland if you caught her
A fragile violet when its picked will wither in your hand
It took a while to find a way to finally win her love
I just let her fly her free and fancy way just like a dove…

You can see I am an old man – I may seem to be alone
And though I may appear to be I have a love to call my own
She’s gentle as the shadow of a cloud upon the meadow
Though sometimes it’s a lonely love
It’s the only love I know
It took a while to find a way to finally win her love
I just let her fly her free and fancy way just like a dove…
