Fine, Fine Line

It can be a fine, fine line between hope and despair
If you think that you’ve got love, but it’s not really there
Yes, I know all about it, ‘cause it happened to me
Take a look at yourself, who will the next fool be?
Who will the next fool be, and will you even know
Till she comes and tells you, “Baby, it’s time to go”

I had a good love, but that good love got old
Flames turned to embers, then the embers grew cold
Embers to ashes, our love crumbled down
Now those ashes are scattered, so they’ll never be found

Yes, it’s a fine, fine line between hope and despair
If you think that you’ve got love, but it’s not really there
Yes, I know all about it, ‘cause it happened to me
Take a look at yourself, who will the next fool be?
Who will the next fool be, and will you be the last to know
When she comes and she tells you, “You’ve got to go”

However you measure the love that you share
You’ve got to give her some pleasure, and show her you care
Show her you treasure her every day
In everything that you do, and all the words that you say

‘Cause it’s a fine, fine line between hope and despair
When you find love is broken, and it can’t be repaired
Yes, I know all about it ‘cause it happened to me
Take a look at yourself , who will the next fool be ?
Who will the next fool be, and will you even know
Till she comes and she tells you, “Baby, it’s time to go”

  1. "Sometimes you feel other people's pain worse than your own. We're armored against our own troubles. We can't afford to give in to despair. Then you see someone else struggling, and it breaks your... heart."
