Fading Away

Fading Away © 5-17-2007 Bob Mullany (G)

Shadows are slowly extending
Darkness continues descending

This story has no happy ending at the end of the day

You’re fading away, colors gone grey
Flowers that wilt
You’re fading away a little each day
And it sharpens the guilt
Yes, you’re fading away…

Scenes from a grainy old movie
Shot from the shadows still sooth me
But details grow duller, and frames are less focused each day
You’re fading away, colors gone grey
Flowers that wilt
You’re fading away a little each day
And it sharpens the guilt
Yes, you’re fading away

Bridge:

My only wish - by some sheer strength of will
I could turn back the clock, I could make time stand still
Then I'd rewrite your story, and you wouldn’t be dead
And if Death demands payment he can take me instead
You’re fading away, Colors gone grey
Flowers, they wilt
Fading away a little each day
And it sharpens the guilt
Fading away, washing away
Sand castles we built
You’re fading away… (3 times and fade)
