Call Me

Call Me © Bob Mullany 5/1975

Call me irresponsible
I’m liable to make a mess of any given situation
You may even say that I’m unconscionable
But that don’t bother me none
You can say what you wanna, babe, I ain’t your boss
But I think we go together like linguini and sauce
You can call me a phony
Say my knees are too boney
But I’ll still love you, honey, like a kid loves a pony
You can have your fun, but when it’s said and done
You’ll still be the one (you know, you’ll always be the one)
Yeah, you’ll still be the one that I love

Call me irrepressible
I'm likely to agree without the slightest hesitation
You may even say that I’m detestable
It still won’t bother me none
You can say what you wanna, it don’t matter to me
But I think we go together like honey and tea
You can act real grumpy, you can even try to dump me
Burn my TV dinner, make my mashed potatoes lumpy
You can have your fun, but when it’s said and done
You’ll still be the one (you know, you’ll always be the one)
Yeah, you’ll still be the one that I love

Call me reprehensible
I’ll just say I’m trying to live up to my reputation
You may even say I’m never sensible
It sure don’t bother me none
You can say what you wanna, when you wanna, my dear
But I think we go together like deep dish pizza and beer
You can try to forget me
And deny you ever met me
Do your best to upset me
Send your boyfriend to get me
You can have your fun, but when it’s said and done
You’ll still be the one (you know, you’ll always be the one)
Yeah, you’ll still be the one that I love
