Old

Old © 5/30/2009 Bob Mullany

My hair has gone all white and my old body's weak
My face is like a prune, sometimes my plumbing leaks
My wife has gone off somewhere, I don't know where she said
I don't even recognize her if I skip my meds
My stamina is hammered, and my strength is sapped
But I'm so goddamned old that I don't give a crap

It's just another senior moment, they get longer every day
Another (wait a minute, I forgot, what was I gonna say ?)
My life's filled with senior moments, another day has slipped away
Thanks for stopping by ,(who are you anyway ? )

My pills are in the bathroom in neat little rows
I gingerly put on my favorite comfort clothes
Or I'll stay in my pajamas, 'cause nobody cares
I sleep down in the pantry, I can't climb the stairs
I can cuss you if I want to, that can be some fun
Or tell a dirty joke if I can remember one.

It's just another senior moment, they get longer every day
Another (wait a minute, I forgot, what was I gonna say ?)
My life's filled with senior moments, another day has slipped away
Thanks for stopping by ,(who are you anyway ? )

My face is worn and weathered, with eyes full of clouds
My neck would make most any wild turkey proud
I had been doing something but I can't recall
How long have I been sitting staring at the wall ?
Come pour me a shot, and we can toast my fate
I'll be stopped for drunken driving at the Golden Gates

It's just another senior moment, they get longer every day
Another (wait a minute, I forgot, what was I gonna say ?)
My life's filled with senior moments, another day has slipped away
Thanks for stopping by ,(who are you anyway ? )
