Little Reasons

Little Reasons © 1978 Bob Mullany

Your love, it fits me like a favorite easy chair
That I can sit and rest my bones in
Your love, it soothes me like a shady summer stream
Where I can come and throw my stones in

Don't need no bright lights like the big, big city
This ain't no Hollywood affair
It's little reasons that keep changing with the seasons
And the comfort in just knowing you'll be there

Our love flows easy like a breeze across the rye
A gently churning, turning, tawny sea
And just beneath the surface of those breezes flowing by
Our love is growing deeper quietly

Don't need no bright lights like the big, big city
This ain't no Hollywood affair
It's little reasons that keep changing with the seasons
And the comfort in just knowing you'll be there

No, I won't shout it like some blaring neon sign
My words would only crumble if I tried
I know that you can feel it, just how glad I am you're mine
And the peace we share in being satisfied

Don't need no bright lights like the big, big city
This ain't no Hollywood affair
It's little reasons that keep changing with the seasons
And the comfort in just knowing you'll be there

  1. "We all have hometown appetites. Every other person is a bundle of longing for the simplicities of good taste once enjoyed on the farm or in the hometown [he or she] left behind.”
