The Late Great Planet Earth

The Late Great Planet Earth © 7/30/2009 Bob Mullany

What is the truth that can't be proved
Is there a mountain that can't be moved
Whence comes the light that strikes the Earth
from stars that had died
before our birth
Why don't the starving children cry
Why do the sinless sick ones die

It's all beyond my mortal mind
The more that I seek the less I find
Tell me the where and how and why
Give me an answer before I die

What is the secret to your bliss
Have you been touched with an angel's kiss
Have you not heard the words of hate
Do you feel fear about your fate
How do you pray and not feel doubt
Regardless of how it all works out

It's all beyond my mortal mind
The more that I seek the less I find
Tell me the where and how and why
Give me an answer before I die

Look to the future, my dear friend
Our children are lost in the flood again
Look even further beyond your pride
Even the sun has finally died
One speck of life in the universe
Pray for the late great planet earth
Pray for the late great planet earth
