Another Sad Love Song
Another Sad Love Song © Bob Mullany 1974
Well, I hear you ain’t lonely since your one and only fella left town
'Cause I hear tell about some other fellas coming around (it ain't your cooking)
Now, honey, I’m not mad though I’m a bit upset
And though I may feel bad I won’t give up yet
I’d feel a whole lot better if I could write you a letter
Just to let you know I’m still around
But if you don’t hear from me, honey, don’t you go getting me wrong
I think about you all the time
I bought a first class stamp with my last dime
But when I try to write a letter I just write another sad love song
I hitched a hundred miles to see you in a blizzard and I thought I’d die
With a couple miles left I saw you ride by with another guy (on a snowmobile)
At that moment our relationship went sour again
If I made a reservation could you fit me in ?
I’d feel a whole lot better if I could write you a letter
Just to let you know I didn't die.
But if you don’t hear from me, honey, don’t you go getting me wrong
I think about you all the time
I bought a first class stamp with my last dime
But when I try to write a letter I just write another sad love song
I took you out on a date thinking that will maybe change my luck
But you jumped out at the light and then you jumped into a pickup truck (with a cowboy)
Now I’m wond’ring if I’m gonna have to fence you in
Or am I always gonna share you with some other men ?
I’d feel a whole lot better if I could write you a letter
Just to say I think it sucks.
But if you don’t hear from me, honey, don’t you go getting me wrong
I think about you all the time
I bought a first class stamp with my last dime
But when I try to write a letter I just write another sad love song
(This one’s for you baby)
Yeah, when I try to write a letter I just write another sad love song
(when I wrote this a first class stamp cost a dime)
